Road/Lane Closures

ROAD CLOSURE

Westbound West Fletcher Avenue was closed from North Boulevard to Magdalene Shores Avenue (eastbound West Fletcher Avenue remained open).

LANE CLOSURE

  • One of two eastbound lanes of West Fletcher Avenue was closed from North Florida Avenue to I-275

LANE CLOSURE

  • Two of three westbound lanes of East Fowler Avenue were closed from I-75 to North Nebraska Avenue (US 41)

During the hydrotest, the following intersecting roadways continued to remain open remain open (See the green arrows on the graphic) to traffic crossing the pipeline:

  • North Boulevard
  • North Florida Avenue
  • I-275
  • North Nebraska Avenue
  • North 19th Street
  • North 30th Street (Bruce B. Downs Boulevard)
  • North 50th Street
  • North 56th Street
  • Riverhills Drive
  • I-75

For the duration of the high pressure portion of the hydrotest, as a safety consideration, the Florida Gas Transmission Company isolated the 14-inch diameter pipeline from vehicular and pedestrian traffic. The test started at midnight, so the road and lane closures (noted above) along the 9.3-mile pipeline alignment were closed until approximately 4:00 a.m. A Traffic Control Plan for the night of the hydrotest was approved, and the associated General Utility Permit was issued by the Florida Department of Transportation.

Law enforcement personnel were stationed at the intersections along the hydrotest alignment for the duration of the hydrotest. Side streets were closed with barricades, however, emergency responders were always able to cross as needed.
